I completed my transfer yesterday.
This is a meeting with objective university staff members who must review my progress thus far in my PhD to assess whether they believe I can complete it to an appropriate standard in time for the end. For this I had to write up a detailed account of all the work I had done, expected future work, as well as my plan for how it will be completed and what I expect to contribute.
If I had not made sufficient progress I would not be transferred over from an MPhil to a PhD. It was a valuable experience and provided me with important feedback to implement going forward as well as considerations for my past work. Once I have completed some agreed modifications to the transfer document and my plan for the remaining research, I will be able to complete my transfer.
This is good news and I received some very complementary feedback and necessary advice.
